Q: I have a friend who’d make a great referral. Should I tell them to apply online?
A: No. The best way to tell your friend about our jobs is to submit a referral for them. They will then receive an “Apply Now” email from the system inviting them to apply. Best of all, if they are hired and eligible, you’ll receive a referral payout.
Q: My referral already applied. Can I still refer them?
A: No. You must submit a referral before your friend applies. The program does not pay for referrals of applicants currently within our application system.
Q: Can I refer a current employee or transfer?
A: No. You cannot refer a current employee or transfer.
Q: Can I refer a temporary employee, intern, volunteer or new graduate RN?
A: No. You cannot refer anyone with a previous contractual relationship with SHC or LPCH in the last 6 months.
Q: Can I refer a former employee?
A: No. You cannot refer former employees.
Q: My friend created a profile, but forgot to apply. Will I receive my referral bonus?
A: No. Profiles do not count as applications. Your friend must apply for you to be eligible for the referral bonus.
Q: What if I complete the referral and my friend applies on the same day? Am I still eligible for the referral bonus?
A: Yes. If the referral and application are completed on the same day you are eligible.
Q: What if my friend applied yesterday and I completed the referral today? Am I still eligible for the referral bonus?
A: No. If your friend applied yesterday and you referred them today you are not eligible.
Q: If I tell a recruiter about my friend, who applies and is hired, will I receive a referral bonus?
A: No. You must submit a referral before your friend applies.
Q: How do I find out which positions are eligible for referrals and how much they pay out?
A: Visit the Program website and log in to view a listing of current jobs. Next to each position, you’ll find the payout amount for that position.
Q: When will I receive my referral bonus?
A: Tier 1: Payouts for Tier 1 positions will occur in two installments (1-2 pay periods after the referral hire date and 180 days after the referral hire date). Tier 1 payouts will be split into two payments of $750 each. You and your referral must remain employed throughout 6 months for you to receive both payments.
Tiers 2 & 3: Payouts for Tier 2 and tier 3 positions will occur post the referral hire date. Each payment will take 2-4 weeks (1-2 pay checks) to process and is subject to standard tax withholding.
Q: How will I receive my referral bonus? Can I pick it up from you?
A: Your referral bonus will be added to your paycheck and is subject to standard tax withholding.
Q: So will I receive payouts of exactly the referral payout amounts ($1,500, $500, and $250)?
A: No. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax guidelines dictate that bonuses for our employee referral program must be subject to standard tax withholding (as stated in our Program Rules).
